It's officially summer!

We got to take the boat out for the first time this summer. It was a perfect day at Wilson Lake (except when the wind storm came rolling in)!
Britt invited Derek. Aren't they so cute?! We think so.

I think he has had more pictures taken of him in the last three weeks then he probably has his whole life. Sorry Derek!

Kaden invited his friend McKaden. He wasn't so sure he wanted to try the tube. This was his first time boating. But after a while he decided he liked it and now he is Kaden's new boating friend!

Maybe by the end of the summer McKaden will be doing tricks!

Brad and Jordan invited Tank, bad idea, he is so naughty. Jordan hates pictures, she was having a good time, she just never poses for the camera. Britt got all of the posing genes I guess.

Me and Britt enjoying the day.

Tank taking a swim.

A good time was had by all! Well I don't know if Derek had a good time or not, but the rest of us did.

Until next time!

A work in progress

Saturday was a big day! It started off with a little side walk chalk artistry.
Derek and Britt

Kaden drawing sweet car.

Derek concentrating.

Derek trying on the 3-D glasses. Hilarious!

Derek and Britt looking cute.

We had a patch of dirt in the back yard by the house, so we decided to put in a pond. Brad and Kaden (on the roof) started moving dirt and rocks.

Before the pond got going, some of the "kids" got in the pond and played in the mud.
Kaden!

Kaden, Britt and Derek getting muddy!

Gettin dirty is apparently funny.

Someone (not me) may have encouraged Derek to throw Brittany in the mud??!!

Okay, it was me. I did encourage Derek to throw her in the mud. She liked it though.
Jordan was sweet enough to spray them off when they were done.

Here is the pond getting started.

Here is the pond when we were done Saturday. We still have some landscaping around the pond, a fountain for the pond and other tasks to finish before its done. We are hoping to get it all done before Jordan's graduation party on saturday.

It sure looks better than a patch of dirt!
Then we drove to Jerome for a little Mexican food at El Sombrero. Yes it is worth the drive!
Brad and Jordan

Britt and Derek.

My foot. It is looking better! Friday morning I dropped a pair of pruning shears on it and cut it pretty bad.

After dinner we met up with Mary and her new boy, Jordan.

We played a few games and had some good laughs.

Congratulations Jordan!

She made it!! She is graduating next Friday and we are so proud of her.
(This is her thinking that she could fly with a sheet and 50 mile an hour winds.)

We LOVE you J-town!

Mother's Day, Smores, and More

Mother's Day was nice. I didn't have to cook or clean. We just had Brad's parents and his sister over and Britt invited Derek. We had steaks and pie and it was yummy!
I told Britt I wanted my pie with a happy face on it.....this is what I got!
It's a little scary!

The kids got me a rocking chair for my front porch. I LOVE it! Now I just need one more, and a little table to get between so that I can sit out there and sip lemonaid in the summer! (good thing my birthday is comin up!)
My super awesome gift!

Brad spoiled me by getting me a ticket to Time Out for Women, Orem, and a hotel room!
Me, Joy and Vern!

Then we had Derek over for smores and he sang us some songs on his guitar. He has some chops (as Kara from American Idol would say)! It was a fun evening except that Jake put too much wood on the fire and we all almost caught on fire! He may just flunk out of Boy Scouts.
(Yes, that is smoke!)

Kaden and me, chillin by the inferno, I mean fire.

Today we went to my cousins 50th Birthday party. It was fun. They had a big dinner, bouncy houses, games. They usually have a live band, but didn't today, so it was not as fun as it usually is.

My aunt and mom doing the bouncy house slide together!

My mom going down the bouncy house slide!
Jake beating the crap out of my brother in the boxing bouncy house!

Jake doing a flip in the bouncy house!
Britt and Derek duking it out!

The End!

Happy Mothers Day to All

"Be a Mother who is committed to loving her children into standing on higher ground than the enviroment surrounding them. Mother's are endowed with a love that is unlike any other love on the face of the earth." — Marjorie Pay Hinckley

My MOM

She loves AND spoils her grandkids. I was looking through my drafts in my email this week, and I found this email Jordan sent me in 2001:

"if you could only begin to see things my way mabe id love you like i love grandma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:("

Her kindness and pure selflessness is the reason we have our house. We love her!

Brad's MOM

Who doesn't love Joy Barnes? NO ONE that's who.
I seriously have the best mother-in-law in the entire world!

Happy Mother's Day to all!

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who said kind words and offered to bring me cookies (if only they didn't live several states away) on my "sad day" I really truly appreciate your kindness. And I am NOT going to cry tomorrow, I mean it this time!
I did learn that no matter how many times you tell yourself in the car on the way to work, "I will not cry at work, I will not cry at work!" It soooo doesn't help!
But I also realized that in the grand scheme of things.....I am pretty lucky and blessed.
THANK YOU KIND PEOPLE!

Conclusion!

I have come to the conclusion that I am a happy event blogger only. I had a sad day today and thought about blogging about it, but it just didn't feel right.
Instead, I am just going to be grateful for the tender mercies that I receive from the Lord and be grateful for all the happy moments in my life and for all the people in my life that make those moments!
I am truly blessed.

Great!

I read this in the news today:
ATLANTA — About a third of the confirmed U.S. cases of swine flu are people who had been to Mexico and likely picked up the infection there, a federal health official said Saturday.

We have all been sick since we came back...but we got better....and we're not dead.....

I think we will just stick with vacationing in Utah from now on. The worst thing we get there is road rage!
Goodbye Mexico hello Gateway Mall, Cafe Rio, Park City, Tanger Outlets, Lagoon, Red Robin, Olive Garden!
